Air Conditioning Units

Outdoor Units

Split System

Split system outdoor units are traditionally single fan, side discharge units. They can either use R32 or R410a refrigerant. They traditionally measure less than 1 metre squared.

Ducted System

Ducted system outdoor units are traditionally double fan, side discharge units. They can either use R32 or R410a refrigerant. They often measure over 1 metre squared.

Ducted Top Discharge

Some ducted air conditioners, such as Actron Air units, are top discharge. Rather than having the fans blow air sideways, they blow upwards. These units are typically larger than traditionally ducted systems.

Indoor Units

Ducted System

The indoor unit is located in the roof space. It provides conditioned air into the home. The indoor unit is comprised of heat exchanger coils, filters, remote signal receiver and a fan. Ford & Doonan suspend the indoor unit over a drip tray, so that in the rare instance where a water leak may occur, the drip tray will capture the water before it damages the ceiling or insulation.

Evaporative Units

Evaporative

Evaporative units are mounted on the roof of your home. They are often a square box shape made of plastic. Inside the evaporative cooler is a fan. This fan draws air into the system through the cooling pads
